Gratitude Journal

I was blog surfing the other day,(shocking I know!) and came across a great idea to have a family gratitude journal for Thanksgiving time. I decided that I wanted to make one for our family. Now that we live far away from both of our families I wanted to find things to fill our Thanksgiving Day.

The idea of the journal is to pull it out on Thanksgiving and have everyone write in it what they are thankful for that year. I think the best part will be pulling in out in future years and reading about past years.
Now to make this fun project I went to Hobby Lobby and found a great sketch book in the art section that has plain white paper in it. Then I found some cute fall paper and stickers. I came home and decoupaged the paper and stickers to the front of it. I think it turned out quite well! I can't wait to let the kids write, or draw what they are thankful for!
I want to tie some cute fall ribbon on the spirals but haven't found any yet.
I decided to display it on my mantel with my other new fall decor I found on an 80% off sale at Hobby Lobby!  Gotta love the clearance sales!
I am grateful for so much this year that I might just fill the book myself!

Paper Pumpkins

These cute little things are all over blog world so I thought I would put my version out there.
They are simply made of paper cut into strips and attached with a ribbon.  Better instructions and  pictures are found on one of my favorite blogs here.

You can be creative with the top of them.  Let your creative juices flow!

Look how cute they are on my antique pie plate holder thing that just has plates in it now cause I haven't made it to Home Goods to find the perfect pie plates yet.  Too much information...maybe.

Hope you enjoy trying these fun pumpkins!

Simple Fall Wreath

I have seen wreaths like this before, here and have had it on my to do list for a while.  When I saw a bag of leaves in the dollar section at Target I couldn't put it off any longer.

Here is the result of a dollar bag of leaves, an old picture frame, some hot glue, ribbon, jute, and a couple acorns from the local park.

I simply glued the leaves in a random pattern (very hard for me to do random) all around the frame.

Then I glued the acorns on the jute before putting them on to the frame.
Added the ribbon and tahdah a completed fall wreath!

Trick or treat bags

All those who are tired of those cheap $1 plastic trick or treat bags that break, Say "I".  Alright, alright, I hear you loud & clear.

Let's do something about it.......

Cute, right?!  Obviously these are customized for this year's costumes: Jessie, Bo Peep, Woody & Buzz.  No, I did not force the Toy Story theme on the kiddos.  Well actually Diablo (my sweet 2 year old) is wearing a hand me down Buzz but other than that my hands are clean - I swear.

Back to business.

I found the tutorial here but I did make a few changes.

Buzz is the measurements stated on the tutorial.  I found it to be a tad small so the other 3 are 2" wider & the handle 2" longer.  Woody & Buzz are appliques.  The Jessie one I stitched the spots on to the black felt before sewing.

Have fun with this one!
